Assignment 1 - The Basics

Live:

Live Sports:

Practical:
  • They use three different camera's in this clip, one for the full view that is placed at the side and the other two is behind the goal and one camera doing the close ups on the players if they fall or celebrate for a goal. These different angels are used for the viewers interest in football as they would like to see what is going on also for entertainment. They dont have any audeince reaction in this as that would show that they are communicating with the audience for example if the crowd cheers for the team you support you would also cheer, vice versa. There is a an example of a football player hugging and high fiving the other players as they scored a goal (0:54).
Aesthetic:
  • In this clip there are different shots and shows everything happening which make it exicting for the viewer to watch as this game is upbeat and quik with lots of different shots to take when penalties to be done and goals to be scored. It covers all of the action besides the audience. There is a constraint as it is a really huge place to record footage also there are audiences sitting there so they would try and use a few camera's however a decent amount to cover the footage so the viewer would be pleased with what they are watching.

Concert:

Practical:
  • In the beggining when they have their interview with different people they use about two camera's for the interview to show the people they are interviewing and clearly to get a big shot to see all of them together. Starting from 0:50 minutes they use about 7-10 camera's to capture all audiences shots also to capture the bands actions and the main guy singing. Having so many different angled shots at a quik pace would keep the viewer really interested.
Asthetic:
  • All of the action is covered with the camera's spread about the place, the constraints would be very strict as this is a large venue and need to fit the people and the band and stage in for the people, their camera's would have to be spread carefullly and evenly to capture the the different  moments of the fans also this is a very good concert to view to communicate with the viewer as there are so many different emotion running around the crowd that the viewer would know this concert is really good and 'crazy'.
For example:

Public event:

Practical:
  • They have about 3 camera's to show the viewers the arrival of Kate Middleton entering the church from all views and them greeting the preist. they have different shots to maintain the viewers interest.
Asthetic:
  • the slow paced entry she has sets the viewers mood to watch a calm and peacefully ceremony which would probably stick with the veiwers. This communicates with the audeince really well.

Studio:

Game shows:

Practical:
  • In this game show they would definitly have to use the three shot's the camera's use typically to get the main hosts and the guests coverage of action. They also have a camera higher up next to the screen to show the footage that is being shown also the guests and host. this alows the viewers at home to see all the action that is going on. They also have a shot of everything including the audience in the studio and the studio itself.

Asthetic:
  • The colours in this studio also the laughing/happy atmosphere make sthe viewers at home happy to and follow the same emotions in the studio. Having everything covered even in a small studio they would mostly have more camera's as they want to make it pleasing for the veiwer to watch exactly what they want the viewer to feel so they have lots of different shots even though they have constraints.

Chat shows:

Practical:
  • In this clip there is only one camera used for it as he is speaking and not moving around the audience is already behind him so they dont need to cover much footage as what the main guy talks about is already on the screen  next to him or pops up onto a different image showing you the footage. By having the audience directly behind one of the hosts this communicates very well witht the viewers at home as they can see the audiences reactions.

Asthetic:
  • Having the audience directly behind host is great as this would make the veiwer at home happy too or would have the same reactions as the audience on screen.

Magazine shows:

Practical:
  • In this clip they use different type of camera one in the car and other outside, he talks to the camera's and this is a good way to communicate to the audience that would be watching in the studio also at home as they recording this outside the studio so the communicating is good and it would be your own reaction no-one there to tell you how to react. This clip would keep the viewer entertained with the things they do in this show also how they capture the footage and the angle they have it.

Asthetic:
  • The events in Top Gear itself is planned for entertaining the viewers in the studio and at home. The constraints would be that they wont be able to have huge craines for the camera's with the activities that are planned for this episode as it is outdoor and in soo  many places also a crane would not be needed to record the footage. It is spontaneous as he crashes the cars and all of that and it's sudden.

Live Studio:

Talent show:

Practicial:
  • They  have various camera's position to capture all of the action for example, backstage, the stage, judges, the audience and the whole studio. the  need to capture everything to communicate with the viewers at home and show everything that is going on.
Asthetic:
  • They use diiferent camera angles and shots and at medium pace as t keep the views visualised and interested also when they see the audeinces reactions this would help communicate to the viewers at home to either show what might come or how to be as they person on the stage is good/bad.
