Music Video Beachcombing

CALVIN HARRIS FT NEYO - LET'S GO

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LYZ6gXWZfZM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

what do i like about this video:
Well the main thing i like abouthte video is that the name of the title is lets go and the first thing you see is someone talking in there language saying 'lets go' after the person saying that it shows a range of people all leaving some where and going to a different place. They are all having fun in their own way the camera pace os really fast which i especially like as the music is a fast pace song to dance to so the cuts and pace would be quicker too. they have edited the video to the beat so it doesnt seemit isnt follwing the music otherwise it would seem a bit out of place to watch.

what do i like about the narrative:
Well the story is really clear and so are the lyrics it all about going somewhere you enjoy going having fun with the person you love or either your best friends, they are showing all different people around the world enjoyin them selves with people they feel positive about. the story line is really encouraging as they are all going somewhere and they sem really excited about it with the music it makes you feel the same. it's all about dancing too letting your self go.

who is the audience for the video and how can you tell?
i think it is for teengers and older poeple up to about 30 max as everything going on in the video represents teenagers and people around that age that would like to have fun. also it shows that kind of age group in the music video so it would give you an idea what target audience it is for becase you wouldnt see 50 years old dancing around like this, as they are really energetic inthe video.

how dos the video add to the genre of the music?
the genre is house and dance, in this video and the locations they are at, even though they might not be in a dancing place the people are dancing they show them selves having a good tiimes and dancing where ever they are so this realtes to the genre dance as they represent it in the music video.

how does the video represent the artist?
the music producer is represented in this video abosultely perfectly as he is known to make these kinds of songs its all about techno, house and dance for him as he sems to be an energetic person him self as i have seen in his conerts and some permances on shows. however the singer does various types of genres mostly hip hop and r&b however this has gone really well with him as it hows a different side.

RIHANNA - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HBxt_v0WF6Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

what do you like about the style of the video?
i really enjoy watching this music video as there are soo many things going on for exmaple the different and mysteriious background the set design has also it does represent the title 'where have you been' as she starts off in the water as a animal looks around for its prey she does that in the water. i like the dancing in the video too it keeps you entertained. there a few jump cuts in there but only at certain parts and it makes you think oh what was that i really like how they have added it in at particular point however you still dont know when it is about to appear.

what do you like about the narrative?
there is not really a narrative to this song i think it's more about her and her dancing and weirndness she has going on recently and she is portaying that really well in her videos becuase this one seems mysterious hwoever exciting i also like the bridge in thes song when it kind of turn into techno or dubstep kind of music it helps with her dacing becuase she goes along with it and how they make that bit of the scene shake (effects).

who is the audience for and how can you tell?
i cant really tell who the audience may be for but i do think it may be for older teenagers as the lyrics and about pleasing her and finding the right one also they have a bit where it seems abit sexual however not obvious. but i think it's hard to tell what age group it is for but it can be for everyone i think becuase it is enjoyable.

how does the video add to the genre of the music?
dance pop, house and techno , its all mixed into one and i think the dance would represent the genre in here bcause it seems out really out there as you can see in the pictures.

how does the video represent the artist?
being all mysterious and out there is rihanna's thing she likes being really funky and enjoyin new stuff and this is a new thing she is doing, in all of her videos there is something different so doing this represents her well becuase she is different from the rest of the other artists in the industry.

ADELE - ROLLING IN THE DEEP

what do you like about the style of the video?
i like how the lyrics can relate to the video and how feeling can be shown in just little things that are done for exmaple being alone in the room, the smashing plates and the drum kit how the bass is being filmed as he 'played it to the beat'. i like the pace of the song its medium not too fast and not too slow.

what do oyu like abou the narrative?
i like that everything she says is represented in the video either as anger or sadness they are both equally shown because the dance that person does it surround by some sort of powder and the dance is very loud and drmatic the powder adds a little extra too it showing feelings through dance and the the smashing plates the sadness is shown when she's all alone in the room singing or in the dark and what i also find interesting is the water in the glass, how the whole room is filled i cant get my mind around what that could represent with the narrative however i think as the water shakes to the beat so does her feeling and how sad or like nervous she is.

who is the audience and how can you tell?
to be honest i think it is everyone probably by the age of 16 and over (as they probably can tell what a heart break may be or feels like) becuase she is talking about a feeling which everyone might go through in life so this can be for every type of audience.

how does the video add to the genre of the music?
soul, pop and blues, as you can see the woman is just singing and there is a person playing the drum represents pop, as it is mainstream music you wouldnt hear soul or blues these days but the music video is really catchy and the beat of the music video catches the audiences beat.

how does the video represent the artist?
as i have seen in her interviews she has been heartbrocken so she made a whole album on this guy she had brocken up with, i have only gott to know about Adele when she came out this album so i think this represents how brave she is and how she can hold her chin up and move in with life as she is a really nice person looking at interviews, this music videos shows how brave she is.

JAY STATUS & DJ SANJ - KATAL KARE

what do you like about the style of the video?
I like how they show the singer and who is in the video in the beggining also the pace of the video is realy medium not too fast as the pace of this music video is not really fast becuase you wouldnt dace really fast to this it would be at a normal pace. i also like the background dancers it gives the video more of an edge to it.

what do you like about the narrative?
this music video is about how the girl is so beautiful and her girly drama's take's the mans heart away with her looks and he falls in love, but the main thing i like is how the they dont show what the girl actualy looks like in the beggining and they when she does her make up they show her clearly and how beautiful she looks also her dancing becuase they sing about her dancing.

who is the audience for the video?
the audience is literally for everyone mostly punjabi people as these kind of songs and espiecailly the beat to it is how the punjabi songs are like as our dance bhangra dances to these kind of beats. the target audience is teenage and upwards.

how does the video relate to the genre of the music?
the genre is bhangra, the beat is absolutely right for bhangra genre bescuase its mostly about the beat than the lyrcis because when you are doing bhangra you need to have a good beat and the people in the back ground show the genre by dancing to the song so when you watch the music video the genre can be easily recognised due to the beat and dancers.

BEYONCE - RUN THE WORLD

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VBmMU_iwe6U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

what do you like abou the style of the video?
i really tlike the pace of the music and the lyrcics how they make you feel really powerful (as i am a girl) the music is encouraging and powerful. the camera work is good as there are soo many different angles the camera guy has got it makes the video interesting withe having a range of angles to show so it catches the viewers attention also helps get the messgaes across with just different angles.

what do you like abou the narrative?
i like how the lyrics and the music video go in a same way becuase she express's the power of 'girls' through her dances and movement they are really aggresive and controlling also loud.
also the things they have around them and their costumes are representing that having the lion there having black clothing also armouors on a dress it creates a story showing girls actually run the world. also having the army in the back represents power.

who is the audience for this video?
i think it is mainly towards girls as in the title it says we run the world and after they say that in the usic video they say girls also i dont think it is just for girls boys can lisen to it oo as the beat has orginnaly cam eform major - pon de floor but added more too so it is a beat everyone would enjoy but mostly teenagers and onwards to up to about 30.

how does the artist relate to the video?
beyonce is known to be the queen of pop so having this energetic powerful music video brings her to that place whcih shows her inner self the most.

Live Day Reflection

Summarise your role:
I am the video operator that operates camera one and my partner Amrit he operates camera two and three. we both have to film the whole production of the live day and make sure it is precise and accurate aldo interesting for the audience to enjoy with a range and variety of angles, zooms etc...

What difficulties did you have:
I had difficulties in not talking at all as I was mostly trying to talk to amrit by not using the headsets and using hand communications, this would confuse the presenters and everyone else also if Amrit might missunderstood my message im trying to get across he could do something else with the camera which would not have a good affect.

What solutions did you find for these problems:
I got use to using the headphones and communicating through that as he would hear what i am sayin clearly also the director would be able to know what we are doing as he would be able to hear us too.

What skills do you think you have gained:
I have gained a range of skills that would help in the future if we have more productions like this. For example I restricted my self to only one type of angle on the presenters however Mr.Philipson had told me about the 3rd degree anlge rule also amrit had shown me some shows and how they use the camera. this helped alot as i had taken it into consideration and put it into action.

What advice would you give someone who is about to undertake you role in a live studio show:
well i would personally say just dont be scared or nervous as it isnt as nerv racking as being the director or the presenters also use as many different type of angles you can however make sure the director is ok with it and also use it when the director tells you or either when you think it is an appropriate time.

How could you expand your role if you did a studio show again:
I would fit into probably being the floor manager also being the video operator as I would be able to handle both jobs, also i would mostly enjoy it.

Camera Script

Production meeting reflection 4

This week me and my partner amrit have both doen the Tyra intewrview with the whole cast after school. I think it went well as everyone was organized and on time for the recording.
it was a good experience as it was a practise for a our live day too also a practise for what to do when it comes down to the real thing.
we also completed the cmaera script we had to do for the end of thiws week as aron had to put it all together because the whole case needs it to know when the que is for everything and what is going to happen.
The interview and our job for the cmaera script has been successfull as they have both been completed however the sound on the interview was not right as we had been informed so we have to re-do the interview again however not on the liuve day we can still do it after the live day
Insteasd of having Tyra in the studio with us on live day as she had exams we jus had her as a pre recorded interview to add into the show.

working with everyone was great as it was successfull everyone had cleart communication as we had our headphones on and everyone kept a note on what was going on around them also i dont think everyone is up to professional standard however evberyone is gettin there and i think we will all work really good together as a team for the live day. next week we are going to to rehearsaals in our lesson to praqctise for live day so that would be really helpfull for all of us to keep practising and me and amrit can practisae on different camera angels too.

VT with Tyra

We have another job to do, this week our task is to do make a Vt. in the Vt. we have to interview the 'celebrity' Tyra. We asked the music department when we could use one of their practice rooms and we have a good chance of filming tomorrow lunch with the presenters however we still have to see if Tyra is free but we think she might be as it is free time.

the set is going to be eactly hwo it is on the live day so it looks like she has already cam ein and interviewed herself as she may be busy on the actual live day.
this wil be a great beneficial time for us as we can also rehearse more for he live day and get better and build a stronger confidence for the actual day.

the floor manager has given a diagra of how everything is going to look like for this interview:

we will need the whole crew to make this work as the vision mixer needs to be there and listen to the director about what shots and angles he wants and when he wants them chnaged also the sound mixer so that everything can be heard clearly and correctly.
the floor manager will have to work with us very closely as in the interview he need to tel the presnter and celebrity where to look also at the end of the interview tyra has to giva a shout out and at this point we have to be ready at what camera she wil be looking at and also the floor manager has to tel her were to look and to see if we are ready and in position.

Production Meeting Reflection - 3

Summarise the key points you made this week within your role:
In this weeks role of an camera operator we had to prepare an interview with our 'celebrity' Tyra however as she has exams we also have to work round her and the director/floor manager and vision mixer.
We also have decided to have the interview look like it has been filmed in a different place however it be filmed in the studio as we can rehearse in the studio and practise around the restrictions we have.
We did not have a group meeting this week as we all had to catch up on the things we did not completed and were due on our blogs.

What has been successful this week:
This week we have organised when we have to film the interview and we have asked everyone if they would be free after our lesson for this session, and we were successful in me and Amrit working both as a team also in a complete team with the whole crew.

What do you intend to do next week:
Next week we intend to film the interview Tyra monday after school so we have the studio all set up in lesson and do the rehearsals.

Working with the whole team was effective as we can all communicate very well with each other and there are no mis-communcation so if the ideas are changed we would all be informed.

Production Meeting Reflection - 2

What we did this week: Me and my partner Amrit, completed the 10 risk assessment sheets we had to do. We also tested out the track and dolly to see how to control it/use it. We also took pictures of it and pictures of what the camera view would be when filming, and then analysed the pictures of why we would use that camera and would it be good use. We are going to make a powerpoint presentation about this to put onto our blogs to show that we understand also for the director to see what angles we would likely to be using.

Group Response: In this weeks meeting we found out that wee need to film while using the track to see how it films and if its smooth and not hard to film while multi-tasking. The director needs us to probably film backstage vt's or either interviews in 'another' studio.

Successful this week:
Me and Amrit both learnt how to use the camera, track, dolly also we both know how to edit from our previous assignment.

What do we need to change and develop:
Both me and Amrit need to develop our skills on using the track and how to handle the camera, make sure it is not shaky when using it as we have not used the track before, so we may have rehearsals to use the track amd record.

What to do next week:
Next week we intend to record in the studio with Tyra our 'celebrity' so we can rehearse what we have to do also write about what we are doing on our blogs.

How did we work with your hierachical peers this week? Was it effective?
Everyone works together perfectly for example, the director (sam) has told me and amrit to record the interview also told had a disscussion with us about were the track will be going and what we have to do this has been effective becuase we know what we are doing and get to work on it straight away, it's more organised.

Production Meeting Reflection - 1

Who's idea did you vote for?:
I voted for shriya's idea as, she exaplined her idea really well for exmaple i liked the way she said she wants the programme to relate to the teenagers and be fun but however be serious and the same time, i liked that idea as lots of young teenagers have been influenced by music video's and this show might show them that it's not all about everything that goes on in the music video however the show would still be fun and not boring with the quiz's and audience interaction.

What did you ike about the idea:
i liked the idea of having a competition and live footage being involved also having a vox pox, this would target the audience.

What aspects relate to the brief:
the running order shriya has made sticks to the brief as it is suposed to be 30 minuters long and it is by having 15 minutes live recording and 15 minutes pre-recording.
She has also related to the age target audience and also the presenters have to wear casual but fun clothes as shriya has shown on her blog and i think that does relate back to the brief as it is for younger audience and wearing them clothes they can still relate in their own way.

What idea's do you think need developing on:
In my opinion I dont think she needs to develop on alot as she has included everything you would typically have in a show, also she has added the urban and contempary look which makes it even better (targeted age).

What other idea's did people have that you could be incorporated into the final idea?:
I really like Morgans idea's of her background and how the studio will be set as it was really fun and out there, also I would want to include my own idea in there, my idea was to have to places where the presenters would be and the second desk would alredy have the some of the audience behnd them as the audience at home would see there reactions, i got this idea from 10 '0' clock live.

My idea of a TV show

Programme format:
i though of having it looking like the jonathan ross show and alan carr chatty man, as it is a music show the part where alan carr has his guests all comforatable with drinks and snacks i think that my show should be like that as it is welcoomgin the guests and it portrays a nice image about the show also about the host with the jonathan ross show i was thinking more about the studio layout than the presenters and guests as it more formal and interesting while mysterious. he has his guests at the back in the greenroom and they can still intereact with the studio and audience can see them waiting to be interviewed on a big screen.

The title of the show was going to be 'Got Music' as i wanted it to sound catchy and also catch the audiences attention.

Content ideas:
I was thinking of having 15 minutes of pre recorded and 15 minutes of live recording for the programme. I wanted to also have audience participation in the show for quizs so they hold up card rating the music videos and etc... also have backstage interviews and show audiences reactions also the guests reactions,3-5 minutes of interviews then moving onto the music videos and show that for a good 30 seconds before you actuali start talking about the music video.

Sketch of the studio:

For visual style i would want the presenters to dress like this:

girls:

boys:

How i would like my presenters to be:
  • funny
  • confident
  • urban/up to date clothes
  • improvising
  • welcomig
  • talkative
